I believe in AAM as an organization that can fundamentally change the way the profession does business development and will help firms achieve a better ROI on their investment in marketing. As a member, I can share best practices with other members, learn what is working for them, stay on top of trends and ultimately offer my firm more and better ideas to help them achieve their growth goals. In this highly competitive profession, AAM offers its members (and their firms) the opportunity to achieve pinnacles of success that firms without a connection to the association will not reach on their own. The membership dues pay for themselves many, many times over.

When I entered the world of accounting marketing, I joined a firm as their first ever Director of Marketing. Not only was I new to the firm, but also new to an industry, which created many challenges. Having few established programs within the firm to build upon, I quickly learned to appreciate the amazing resources available through AAM. From the Discussion List and Marketer Toolbox through which members share ideas, tools and techniques, to the AAM Summit where members network and share the latest trends in accounting marketing, AAM helped me seamlessly transition to this new and exciting field. Nearly a decade later and with a new firm, I’m still growing and learning as a result of my AAM membership.

When asked about receiving the Rookie of the Year Award:
“Receiving the ‘Rookie of the Year Award’ has been a great motivator. The award brought new relationships and opened up doors for me--and my firm. It was not only fulfilling personally, but my firm benefits from being more ‘in-tune’ with what’s going on at the national level in accounting marketing.”

AAM offers so many great resources including the Web site, the Discussion List, the annual conference, and the newsletter, MarkeTrends. But perhaps the most valuable benefit to being an active AAM member is the personal interaction you have with people who share similar issues and challenges. Everyone is so supportive that you can't help but become a better professional services marketer through AAM.

AAM is vital to my career. It provides the avenue for me to learn "best practices" and make immediate changes that improve the profitability of our firm. The friends that I have made through AAM have allowed me to continually learn, laugh and "make a difference" at our firm.

I am a new member to AAM and have already found GREAT value in my membership. I started with a trial but within days I signed up for official membership. I greatly appreciate the active Discussion List and if you spend some time on their site and especially in the Marketer Toolbox, you will find valuable articles, creative pieces, etc…not to mention the many other resources they offer.

The AAM annual conference is an incredible resource for the newbie and old pro alike. There's really nothing like it - 400 people in one place who do exactly what you do for a living. Most of us are on our own the other 51 weeks of the year - a lone sales and marketing voice adrift in a sea of accounting professionals. But, a week at the AAM conference gives us the tools, ideas and contacts to show improved ROI when we get back to the office the next week.

When asked about receiving the Rookie of the Year Award:
“Being named AAM Rookie of the Year was a true honor. The Association for Accounting Marketing is the preeminent professional organization for accounting marketers. To be chosen by my peers as the AAM Rookie of the Year was not only overwhelming, but also a vote of confidence in my abilities and my work. I am proud to be a part of AAM, and look forward to building my career in accounting marketing.

Being new to the accounting industry, my first two months as an AAM member definitely put me on the right track for success. The welcome call gave a great overview of the resources available through AAM, and the discussion list is a fantastic tool to share tips of the trade. In fact, the first week on the discussion list, I discovered a great resource for a review of accounting firm websites, and was able to share it with our partners. While I'm only reading and applying the advice right now, I plan to be able to contribute soon.

As a Partner I find it both challenging and stimulating to belong to AAM. From the first day, I was overwhelmed with the thirst the members had to learn and improve. The energy I see at AAM meetings invigorates me. I have been in the profession for more than 30 years and sustaining enthusiasm sometimes is not easy. In the six years of my association with AAM, my marketing energy sustains and AAM is an important element for me.

I joined AAM about a week after I took my position as Director of Business Development & Marketing. Not having worked for an accounting firm before, I felt like I had to start from scratch to help my new company create its marketing foundation. The support and education I received having joined AAM has been tremendous for me. I immediately was able to create my first marketing campaign which I learned about during my first AAM-hosted webinar. Being able to connect with my peers across the country gives me the support and ideas on a daily basis that I need in my position. The content on the AAM website is very valuable, especially the Marketing Toolbox, which I refer to on a regular basis. I am looking forward to attending the 2009 AAM Summit in Austin next June. My AAM membership is the one tool that is a “must have” in my budget this year and next.

Being new to accounting marketing and the only marketer in my firm, it was vital for me to have an available resource on marketing best practices. I've used many of the tools available through AAM and found the members to be genuinely supportive and open to sharing new ideas. I've also gained many new friends from joining my local chapter and enjoy the camaraderie shared by the group.

Participating in the AAM Summit is definitely a highlight of the many conferences we attend each year. Having been on both sides of the fence during the last 10 years, from marketing director/business development manager to industry vendor and co-chair of the membership committee, I can honestly say that I have never experienced such a terrific group of people within an organization. The availability of resources, tools, sharing of ideas, networking opportunities and friendships have been remarkable.
